Teacher talk is an important part in Chinese senior high school English classroom teaching,and politeness is an important criterion to ensure the communication in English classroom smoothly.At present,most of the researches on teacher talk in English classroom and politeness strategies are based on universities,only a small part of the relevant researches are taking senior high school as the research object.Senior high school is an important period for students to transform from teenagers to adults.They will become extremely sensitive and rebellious,and need teachers to pay more attention to them.Thus,the combination of teacher talk in Chinese senior high school English classroom and politeness strategies would be of immense significance of English teaching and learning.On the basis of the politeness strategies of Brown and Levinson,the study is carried out with the purpose of finding out the view ofthe face need between teachers and students in senior high school English classroom,the politeness strategies used in teacher talk of senior high school English classroom,and also the positive and negative effects of politeness strategy using in teacher talk.Furthermore,it provides some politeness teaching implications and teaching suggestions for Chinese senior high school English teachers to promote the effective implementation of English classroom teaching in high school.Based on the research purposes,this study is carried out in a key senior high school in Harbin,and 4 English teachers and 219 students in this high school are taken as an example.The whole process of collecting data is mainly based on classroom observation and recording,student's questionnaires and after class teacher's interview.And for data analysis,the statistical software SPSS 23.0 is applied to analyze the results of the student's questionnaires.Through the analysis of the data found that: First,there are about more than 95% students have clearly expressed their positive needs to their face needs in the English classroom,but English teachers could not always pay attention to the students face wants in the actual English classroom teaching and make them satisfied.Second,in general,direct politeness strategy,positive politeness strategy,negative politeness strategy and indirect politeness strategy,this four politeness strategies are commonly used in teacher talk in senior high school English classroom.Most English teachers could use some politeness strategies to assist teaching in senior high school English classroom,but they do not have a correct understanding of the specific implementation of politeness strategies.Third,politeness strategies have positive and negative effects on the use of two aspects of teachers' talk in senior high school English class.This paper mainly reveals the application of politeness strategies in teacher talk in senior high school English classroom,and also provides some teaching suggestions and Enlightenment to the related teaching situation: In Chinese senior high school English classroom,teachers should pay more attention to the students' face needs and emotional changes;enhance their own politeness strategies and the classroom politeness awareness;and pay attention to the cross use of politeness strategies of teacher talk in senior high school English classroom.in order to create a harmonious classroom atmosphere,cultivate learners' Politeness awareness,improve learners' enthusiasm for English learning,enhance learners' confidence in learning English,and promote the effective teaching in senior high school English classroom.
