A Practice Report On The English Translation Of "researches On Active Aeroelastic Tailoring Structure Of Composite Materials"

Advanced aircraft structure has always been a breakthrough for researchers in the promotion aspect of aerospace.The rigidity and stiffness of composites will be enhanced after embedding shape memory alloy(SMA),which can be regarded as an innovative design in aircraft deformation.The experiments shown in Researches on Active Aeroelastic Tailoring Structure of Composite Materials indicates the feasibility of the design method of active deformation structure driven by SMA,which has positive effect on the researches of aircrafts' large-scale deformation.The rapid development of China's space industry makes the international exchanges of aerospace data more and more important,and the translation of such scientific and technological articles is of great significance in promoting the development of aerospace industry.The translation report can be divided into four chapters: Project Introduction,Pre-translation Preparation,Case Analysis and Deficiencies in Translation.Taking level shifts and category shifts in Catford's shifts theory as bases,the issues in this report will be discussed in terms of vocabulary and grammar aspects.Under the guidance of shifts theory,it is found that in the aspect of level shifts,the grammar and vocabulary items can be converted to adapt to the expression in target language;In terms of category shifts,the verbs,nouns and adjectives in Chinese will also be converted to other parts of speech in English based on specific contexts.The shifts in body part,affirmative and negative forms,active and passive sentence patterns can also be accordingly converted from Chinese to English.In addition,due to the different sentence patterns in Chinese and English,the merge and split o f clauses also exist in the process of translation.The translation report intends to improve the exchanges and interaction in aerospace science and technology among different countries,so as to provide further references for the translation of similar articles in the future.
