In 1930 s,Xu Beihong combined realistic approach in western paintings with linear approach in Chinese traditional ink portrait paintings,which solved the problems of structure and proportion of figures in Chinese ink portrait paintings and improved the depiction of figures.With time goes by,realistic approach presents more diversified forms as well as aesthetic orientation and has become an essential part in exploring shapes of ink portrait paintings.Therefore,it is still of great significance to research realistic shapes of ink portrait paintings.This paper mainly centers on research on realistic shapes in ink portrait painting,tries to probe into the orientation of the author's realistic shape in ink portrait painting through studying the painting Railway Station ·Waiting and looks for forms of shape in ink portrait painting to indicate directions for future ink portrait painting creation.By taking the railway station as the example of painting,this paper studies the structure and dynamic of different figures through the depiction of different figures at the railway station,which is good for improve individual painting techniques.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter includes two parts.The first part explains realistic shape language.The second part takes modern representative ink portrait paintings as examples,analyzes embodiments of realistic shapes in modern ink portrait paintings and briefly illustrates the inspiration to the author so as to lay the ground work for following paragraphs.The second chapter mainly elaborates reasons,purposes and meanings of choosing the railway station as the theme.The third chapter is the key point of this paper.It gives a detailed description of concrete embodiments of realistic shapes and explores their characteristics respectively from figures,layout and backgroundof college students,peasants as well as families.The last chapter states how this painting inspires future creation through the author's paintings and explores the author's painting style of realistic shape in ink portrait painting.Finally,this paper draws a conclusion that research on realistic shape in ink portrait painting accords with the theme of this society.Ink portrait paintings which pay close attention to current social situations and reveal facts are the best examples to the author and the author will stick to such a realistic form of painting in the future.
