With an increasing growth of China?s economy,China has emerged as a major power on international stage, and the voices calling for sustainable development are getting increasingly higher. In this connection, the compilation of Environmental Impact Statements(EIS)by an enterprise is the best response to the requirements of the strategy of sustainable development. However,in contrast to the ever-growing translation demand in this field, the C-E translation quality of EIS stills needs improvement at present. This report, based on the translated EIS texts and self-established EIS corpus, explores the guidance significance of House?s Translation Quality Assessment(TQA)model when translating similar technical report. This study report firstly states the functional and stylistic features of EIS texts through analyzing the characteristics of the texts and then solves the four translation problems encountered in the translation process in the frame of House?s TQA model. The functional feature of EIS text is mainly informative. The stylistic features of EIS text lies in its standard structure, objective statement, strong logic and frequently-used technical terms and figures, and large quantities of four-character phrases etc. Therefore, four translation problems occur correspondingly: failure to observe the format and convention of the target language system;lack of cohesion and coherence in syntactic and lexical level;problems in translating technical terms and abbreviations;problems in translating four-character phrases. In order to solve such translation problems and achieve functional equivalence between source text and target text, translation methods and techniques such as imitation, division, literal translation plus annotation, and paraphrase are adopted within the framework of House?s TQA model.
