MOOC is a typical representative of informational teaching in recent years.With the extensive use of MOOC in domestic and foreign universities,MOOC plays an important role in education in our country.Junior middle school English teaching is an important part of the basic education and it also has many problems.The survey of MOOC by English teachers is related to use of MOOC in middle school English class.The results of the survey about the use of MOOC by English teachers in Zhenjiang are worth a deep investigation and research.This study adopts literature analysis,interviews,questionnaire survey and SPSS data analysis.The research selected eleven junior middle schools as respondents and we have interviews with teachers(including 5 English teachers from middle school).I investigate English teachers about their awareness,usage,satisfaction and improvement suggestions of MOOC to explore the root of the problem.The problems of this research can be summarized as follows:English teachers rarely use MOOC in English learning in class,some teachers who used MOOC in learning are not satisfied with MOOC.Meanwhile,some teachers think using MOOC in English class may increase their workload.There are several problems in students’ use of MOOC: firstly,the completion of MOOC learning is low;Secondly,junior high school students are not enthusiastic about using MOOC for English learning;Thirdly,the students have no deep cooperative learning in feedback of MOOC after class.On the other hand,MOOC hardware facilities and learning platforms are not perfect,and the school leaders do not give enough support for the development of English MOOC.Finally,it is found that the imperfect evaluation system is also a great dilemma for English teachers.The reason is that the inherent teaching concept of middle school English teachers is deeply rooted.And many old teachers lack deep understanding of MOOC.At the same time,the information skill of English teachers is weak so it is difficult to be competent for MOOC teaching.It also takes a lot of time and energy to carry outthe after-school evaluation task of MOOC.In terms of students,students have poor self-control and lack the habit of active learning.Meanwhile,students have a heavy burden of studying under the high pressure and they are lack of energy to study.Secondly,the technology of the school is limited,which cannot provide sufficient technical support for the development of MOOC.In the end,teachers usually have a heavy workload and cannot build a curriculum evaluation team,which is not good for the development of English teaching.In order to guarantee the development of MOOC in English class and to realize informational teaching,first of all,the educational concept of English teachers should be innovated and the MOOC should be viewed dialectically by English teachers.Meanwhile,we should enhance the information literacy of teachers.On the other hand,we should strengthen the information skills of English teachers and we should offer enough training to English teachers.We should actively explore the innovation of MOOC,so as to enhance students’ interest in learning MOOC.At the same time,English teachers should cultivate students’ sense of cooperation and enhance their participation in MOOC.In terms of the support system of MOOC,the school administrators should pay more attention and set up the MOOC institution.Secondly,education department should issue relevant policies to dilute the impact of education.Thirdly,we should strengthen the intercollegiate cooperation and improve the evaluation system of MOOC platform. |
