This report is based on the translator's translation of chapters 6-8 of Let's Talk Literacy. The book focuses on the field of pre-school education and studies the cultivation of young children's early reading and writing abilities. The project was commissioned by Baoding Cambridge Kindergarten in mid-August 2017 and required a fine translation by December2017.According to the requirements, the translation should be highly readable and without obvious mistakes in quality and format. The report is divided into five parts: task description, process description, preparations before translation, case analysis and summary. The first chapter describes the source of the task and its text analysis. The second chapter describes the process from receiving to submission, including task acceptance, translation and proofreading. The third chapter is the preparations before translation, including reading relevant texts,pre-edition and preparing the tools. The fourth chapter is case analysis, which is also the core chapter of this report. In this chapter, the translator summarizes some representative translations in materials and analyzes examples from the three aspects of vocabulary, sentences and texts in order to achieve the greatest possible realization of translation — the “functional equivalence” between source language and target language. The last chapter summarizes the practice and shares the gains and lessons from the translation.
