A Practice Report On The Whispered Interpreting At The First Shijiazhuang Tourism Development Conference

In September,2017,I had the honor to work as a whispering interpreter at the First Shijiazhuang Tourism Development Conference,interpreting four speeches made by the leaders at the opening ceremony to William Shatner,a Canadian businessman.Centering this practice,the report gives a presentation of my mastering and applying the knowledge about the English and Chinese languages and cultures and about translation.The main body of this practice report is divided into four chapters,including task description,interpreting process,case analysis and summary.In the first chapter are described the source,content,requirements and completion of the interpreting task.The second chapter is about the interpreting process,introducing respectively preparations for interpretation,field interpreting,and customer's feedback and self-evaluation and self-reflection.The third chapter,core of this practice report analyzes the cases of how to carry out the principles of simplification information restructuring in the course of interpreting,rethinks how to improve the improper interpreting cases,and makes a special mention of how to respond to the unexpected things on the spot.The fourth chapter is a summary of the gains and lessons I obtained in this practice.I believe the interpreter must improve the ability in comprehensively using the knowledge of language,culture and interpreting.
