| Peng Duanshu was a prominent writer and poet of Bashu area in Qing dynasty,sharing the same equivalence with Li Tiaoyuan and Zhang Wentao.He made great achievements in poetic theories and literary creations.His theories are mainly illustrated in the works of Xue Ye Shi Tan,Ming Ren Shi Hua Bu,Guo Chao Shi Hua Bu.Referred to historical facts and literature documents,this paper conducts a systematic research on Peng’s poetic theories and ideas based on his poems and poetic theory works.There are six chapters as followings:Chapter one is a brief introduction to Peng’s life experiences,thoughts and works.His family backgrounds,life activities,friends and social relations,poems and creations,circulation of works will be involved.Chapter two mainly deals with Peng’s monographs about poetics.His works about poetic theories are presented in this paper discussed on their backgrounds,various versions,objectives,writing styles and subjects,the methods he used for criticism.And his poetic theories are compared with contemporary theories of Verve and Pattern.The third chapter is about Peng’s philosophy about poetry.He advocated studying ancients but not rigidly adhering to them,as well as innovation.He valued the positive role of literacy and experience and believed that literacy is the root of poetry.In addition,he also advocated writing for positive effects,hold that poetry should for the sake of expressing emotion,and appreciated the attitude of the ancients to write poems with their life.The fourth chapter focuses on Peng’s preference to poetry styles.He emphasized the elegant style and the social function of poetry.His praise and promotion of the tradition of talking about poetry in the dynasty of Han,Wei,Tang dynasty showed the point that the poetry were not remarkable as the previous generation.He praised the natural and vigorous style of aesthetics,and advocated the coexistence of various styles.Chapter five presents the poet’s creation methods.His views on methods and techniques of wring poems will be analyzed in the aspects of words,allusion,titles and structures.The norms of articles and poems will also be involved in the analysis.The last chapter shows how Peng’s poetic theory influenced his creations.It focuses on his tendency to imitate the ancient traditions on poetry writing and four kinds of poems thatembodies his philosophy of poetics.Peng Duan shu was one of the outstanding representatives of Bashu area in Qing dynasty.His poetics was different from the Verve and Pattern,and absorbed the benefit of them,then created his unique poetics.Enriched the poetic theory of Qing dynasty. |
