The jail warden is a main role in the county’s range,the main duty is to catch a thief,manage prison and so on,is one of the important assistant of a county leader.Historical materials of the Qing dynasty recorded a lot about this.In recent years,there are a lot of articles and monographs counties with miscellaneous officer in Qing dynasty,more or less are mentioned in the history of jail warden.Unfortunately,although related paper works is rich,but it’s all talk to the jail warden problems,mostly failed to agree on a history of the jail warden as in-depth study,reveal the lack of depth.Therefore,it is necessary to do a systematic study of jail warden.The Nanbu archives is the new materials developed in recent years in Qing dynasty.There are a certain number of archives involves the jail warden,these files including history of Nanbu county code sent to the magistrate of a county check,official report to the superior and practice history of case records and jail warden recorded history of government internal and so on.As local files in Qing dynasty,the BaXian archives have some records to jail warden in Qing dynasty.This paper is based on the two files about the history of jail warden,as main historical materials for research,historical data of other related historical materials.It is base point with between the Nanbu county,radiate to Sichuan and even the whole country,to have a comprehensive exploration of jail warden in Qing dynasty.The first chapter mainly discusses the setting and selection of the history of the Qing dynasty.This chapter mainly discusses the evolution,setting,origin and other basic issues of the classical history.So that we know that almost every county in the history of classics in Qing dynasty was set up.Through data and graph analysis,we can know the jail warden was born mainly as a supervisor,and there was no fixed term in the history.The second chapter is mainly discuss the history of jail warden in Qing dynasty government,salary,and clothing,the history of jail warden of questions mainly use archives recorded in Nanbu archives,and proved to form intermediate code s salary part mainly from two aspects of the legal and illegal,to the history of balance of payments has discussed in detail,at the end of the chapter expounds the history and clothing problem.The third chapter is the key chapter,mainly exploring the authority of the history of the Qing dynasty.This chapter is to use local archives in Qing dynasty more chapter,through to the understanding of the local file out the main functions of the canonical history for the police to catch thieves,accepts the legal cases,prison management,agent and generation are printed official crime,such as prisoners.In addition to the above basic functions,nanbu county has the responsibilities of auditing salt wells,checking accounts and managing social affairs.Through the study,we came to the conclusion that the classical history was slow in promotion and the probability of being punished was far greater than the probability of being rewarded.The fourth chapter discusses the status,character and influence of the jail warden in the Qing dynasty,and makes a comprehensive summary based on other historical materials,and get to make history in the history of influence.
