On C-E Translation Of Traditional Opera Terms In The Protection Of Intangible Cultural Heritage And The Study Of Hunan Flower-drum Opera

This study takes traditional opera terms as the research object which is a writings from Zhu Yongbei--The Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Study of Hunan Flower-drum Opera,and he is the Vice-President of Art Education Commission in Hunan.The source text belongs to the type of publicity text.The author should adopt practical translation methods in the basis of readers while translating.By analyzing the source text,the terms are divided into role terms,music terms and performing terms in accordance with the characteristics of traditional opera terms.According to the principles of terminology translation,three principles are discussed: accuracy,readability and derivability.Guided by the principles of terminology translation,combined with the characteristics of traditional opera terms,three translation methods are proposed,transliteration,amplification,annotation(including transliteration with annotation and free transliteration with annotation).This study finds that traditional terms have distinctive cultural characteristics and deserve to be explored and studied in depth.Hope the thesis could provide some reference for the similar types’ thesis by the interpretation of traditional opera terms.
