A Report On The Consecutive Interpreting For Guangzhou Tech Leader Engineering Company

This report intends to analyze how the author prepares,proceeds and reviews her consecutive interpretation for Guangzhou Tech Leader Engineering Company under the guidance of Seleskovitch's Interpretive Theory(1968).Guangzhou,south gate of China,has enjoyed a reputation for one of the most lucrative investment destinations in this country.Many machines from the developed countries are brought in to enhance work efficiency.It is the same case with Guangzhou Tech Leader Engineering Company,a loyal partner to Fiam,Italy.Tech Leader is an intermediary that imports products from Fiam and sells them to partners in China and Japan.Since new products MCA(Motors with Computerized Angle)and TCS-B(Tightening Control System Basic)were put into use for the first time,they invited an Italian expert from Fiam,Matteo to work out problems in installation,operation and future maintenance.The author was honored to act as their field interpreter to facilitate their mutual understanding.This thesis reports the author's preparation,proceeding and evaluation of her interpreting task under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.This perspective generalizes interpreting as three phases--perception,deverbalization and re-expression.The report analyzes the preparation of the interpreting task and emphasizes three interpreting strategies--paraphrase,addition and self-correction.Her difficulties and problems are pointed out and she will improve herself in those aspects.
