Since the “Cultural Turn” in 1970 s and 1980 s,translators have been made outstanding roles on the stage of translation studies and their function and significance were gradually recognized by the public. There emerged lots of scholars who study on the translator?s subjectivity. The situation of a translator as a poet as well received much attention. As a poet,he is bound to have forged his own poetics on translation and creation, which has great influence on the translator?s subjectivity, but research on this point is few.The thesis tends to take into account the translator?s identity of a writer and poet to study on the influence of the translator?s poetics on the translator?s subjectivity.Zheng Zhenduo and Feng Tang are both writers and poets. The translation of Stray Birds by Zheng has regarded as a classic work, while Feng?s version has aroused many appreciations and criticisms among scholars. The two translations are chosen for research materials in this thesis, and the following questions are hoped to be resolved.First, what features do the two translations possess? Second,What are the differences between Zheng and Feng?s poetics? Third, under the influence of respective poetics, how the translator?s subjectivity is exerted in the translation process? After comparison of Zheng and Feng?s translations, the thesis concludes with some major findings.First,Feng?s poetics is that poems come from life and should be conducive to life, which exerts influence on his translation as two aspects. One is that poetry translation should be rhymed and oral, and should be close to life;the other is that poems should embody the sense of beauty and optimism. While Zheng tried to pay great respect for the author and the original works, advocate the style of “Europeanization” and the strategy of “literal translation”,so Zheng always kept the original sentence patterns in his translation activities, trying to retain the original meaning and achieve the fluency in the target language.
