After entering the new century,with the rapid development of China's economy,there are still writers who do not forget the history and describe the memories of hunger and sufferings in their works.In the new era of society,how do writers take "hunger" as the entry point,re-open history,implement the dialogue between the present and history,face up to the past and look at the real problems in front of them? This is the question this paper wants to explore.Compared with the similar writings in the 80-90 's of the 20 th century,the narration of hunger in New Century Novels has not only similarities,but also presents some new characteristics.The writers' writings of hunger are no longer confined to the expression of suffering on the theme but in the portrayals of characters focusing on the daily activities with diversities of creative techniques.At the same time,their analysis of the deep-seated causes of hunger is more rational.Based on the novels about writings of hunger in the new century,this paper will systematically discuss the characteristics of its hunger narrative.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this article is divided into four chapters:The first chapter focuses on the theme of writings of hunger.On the one hand,the narration of hunger by writers in the new century continues the characteristics of the same writing in the 80-90 's of the last century,giving a true description of the living state and feelings of the individual in the plight of hunger.On the basis of this,the author reveals the power relationship behind the hunger and the thought of the people's docility,on the other hand,in the plot frame of "from the countryside to the city" of New Century Novels,the writer depicted the performances which people still remind the fear of hunger after entering the new era,enriching the texture and connotation of narrative hunger in the literature since the new period.The second chapter highlights the characterization of the narration of hunger.There are four kinds of characters created by writers in the narration of hunger in the novels of the new century: one is a kind of persons who were addicting to the corruption,the other is the "centrist" who was compromising under the condition,and the third one is the one who adheres to moral beliefs,and the last one is the one with multi-faces.The writer highlights the characteristics of "daily life" and shows the physiological and psychological features of the characters in the situation of hunger.The third chapter mainly discusses the characteristics of techniques of hunger writing.The techniques used by different writers in the narration of hunger are different.Some writers make good use of absurd,metaphor,irony and other techniques,others use documentary sketches,and some skillfully interspersed ballads in the story.There are also writers with "life flow" narrative techniques to start the hungry writing,showing the writer's different artistic style and pursuit.The fourth Chapter explores the reasons for the writers to go to the narration of hunger and the values of the narrative of hunger in the new century.In the new century,writers choose to look back at history and salvage the memories of hunger.On the one hand,they are rooted in their childhood experiences and hunger experiences,and on the other hand,they are the responsible of intellectuals.Their narrative of hunger reveals the intellectual's rational thinking and humanistic feelings.The narrative of hunger in the new century has its value to the historical life of a specific period.Writers try to restore the historical truth,which provides us with a platform for thinking and interpretation of history and human basis.
