In English teaching,writing is the very one that can reflect students’ ability of using English comprehensively.Besides,writing plays an important role in English teaching according to the proportion of writing in NMET.But both teachers and students pay little attention to English writing training in practical English teaching so that students’ writing grades are not satisfying.And how to improve their grades is still a problem demanding promt solution in high school English teaching.Therefore,based on the characteristics of senior school students,this essay introduces recitation and imitation strategy to English writing teaching through studying the Input Hypothesis Theory of Krashen,the Output Hypothesis Theory of Swain as well as the related theory of Memetics in order to find the effects of the writing model of recitation and imitation on students’ grades and interest on English writing.Experimental research is mainly employed in this study,and 80 subjects from Yan’an Seninor High School(the EC and CC both with 40 students)are chosen to participate in this experiment.The Recitation and Imitation method is applied in EC while the original English writing teaching method with no change is still used in CC.Besides,a same questionnaire is used before and after the experiment.There are altogether 10 questions in this questionnaire,including students’ interest and attitude in English writing as well as students’ opinion on teacher’s writing methods.The experiment lasts 8 weeks,and it can be seen from the experimental data that the mistakes in students’ compositions of EC have decreased obviously,and their writing grades have also improved greatly.But there is no obvious change in students’ writing grades of CC.Meanwhile,by the analysis of the questionnaire results from EC,it can be found that the students’ interest and attitude towards English writing have changed,too.Therefore,further conclusions can be drawn that the English writing teaching model of recitation and imitation can improve high school students’ writing grades and their interest in writing.At the end of the essay,the limitations of present study are discussed and some related suggestions are also made.In a word,the English writing teaching model of recitation and imitation benefits much to the improvement of high school students’ writing grades and their interest in writing.The results of the study confirm the importance of recitation and imitation to senior high school English writing teaching.This study can provide some references to English writing teaching in senior high school and can be of some use for further study in this field.
