The source text of this translation project comes from Chapter Three of The Tudors: A Very Short Introduction.The book,written by John Guy,mainly represents important characters and great events in Tudor period as well as the objective evaluation from the author.Readers will form the overall understanding of Tudor period through reading this book.This report mainly consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,including the background of the project,significance of the project and report layout.The second part is the analysis of the source text;the translator analyzed the contents and features respectively and made a short summary.The third part is about the guiding theory that the author used in translation.The fourth part is the main body of this paper and the author summarizes difficulties and corresponding solutions to these difficulties during the translation process.The fifth part is a conclusion of the whole translation project.Lessons gained in this translation practice and problems remaining unsolved are mentioned in this part.In the translation practice,with the guidance of Tytler’s three principles of translation,the translator tried to solve different kinds of problems in the process by various translation techniques.The translator hopes that this translation project will give some implications on the future translation of the same text type. |
