By consulting lots of related journals and researches,we find that the short-term Chinese language teaching in the Philippines is a relatively new topic,which is also very challenging.This paper chooses TESDA(the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority)as an example.In this paper,we put its Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture course as the subject of the study.The research includes many aspects.We make every effort to analyze both the characteristics and shortcomings of the short-term Chinese language training in TESDA.This paper adopts three main methods: literature research,questionnaire survey and interview.Through the questionnaires,we know more about the students in TESDA,including their age,motivation,Chinese proficiency,educational background and so on.Through interviews,we learn much about TESDA's short-term Chinese training program and its Chinese teachers and the teaching materials and some other important information.By gathering many information and combing it with teaching practice,we find out the characteristics of the short-term Chinese training in TESDA.And we try hard to come up with some solutions to make TESDA's short-term Chinese training course better and better.The paper is mainly divided into five parts.The first part is introduction,which explains the background and the significance of the study and so on.In this part,we also briefly analyze the Characteristics of the short-term Chinese teaching in the Philippines.The second part is the main body of the paper,in this part we analyze the basic elements of TESDA and all the aspects about its short-term Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture training,including the teaching environment and curriculum arrangements of TESDA,the content and teaching methods so as to explore its teaching effect.The third part is about the suggestions on the short-term Chinese language training in the Philippines.By using TESDA's characteristics and experiences,we come up with many suggestions for other short-term Chinese language training institutions in the Philippines.The last part is the conclusion.I hope that my study will attract more experts and scholars to pay more attention to the short-term Chinese language teaching in the Philippines.
