In the fourth Century,The late Rome Empire had been the stage of political transition,its political and economic were not in balances,It was mainly embodied in the developed distance between the east and the west in the empire.While the eastern Rome Empire was peace and prosperity,the western Rome Empire was in trouble of royal battle and barbarian invasion,and it caused decadent.In the reign of emperor Constantin the Great,he took a series of political and military policy to the barbarians,the problem had been effectively controlled under his ruled.After Constantin’s death,his three sons fought with each other in the civil war,made the Western Empire in great damage.Since Constantius II won the civil war and become the emperor,he executed Silvanus who had planned a rebellion and finally failed,and this event had led to the ability of army garrison in Gual droped.The barbarians who lived in the border of Gual took the opportunity to cross the Rhine River to rob the Gual.Constantius’s government losed control in Gual gradually under such circumstances.In the year of 355,Constantius II promoted Julian who just only 24 at the moment as the vice emperor to help him to solve problems in Gaul,But kept wariness to him Julian won the Gallic war through making Cologne peace treaty,strategic offensive,Strasbourg War,wipping the rest enemy and making peace treaty,by these four stages in Gallic War Julian improved his military strength,his prestige had spread over the empire.Julian’s political and military groups had become more and more powerful and influence.Constantius II was afraid of being threatened by Julian,and he was scared the fact that Julian would hard to be controlled,and even rebellion,so he took a series of measures to try to suppress Julian.Finally Julian who were marginalizated from the government depend on the support of his soldiers and claimed to be an emporer officially,and then he declared the state that keep hostile to Constantius Ⅱ.As a militarist,Julian took many military policy during the Gallic War,enhanced military strength of his army,made peace with barbarians,there was positive strategic significance for peace and security to Gaul.In the mean time,Julian took measures to develop social economic in Gual.The political interaction between Julian and Constantius II and his followers were important parts of Gallic War.
