The fast development of China's economy for over two decades enabled a rapid accumulation of wealth for enterprises, families and individuals as well.Concepts of financial management of the society consequently have gone through big changes. In this context, professional financial knowledge is desirable for people in China.Meanwhile,The Value of Debt introduces the role and the value of debt in wealth management from a brand-new perspective, thus, the Chinese version of the book is reckoned of high value.Besides, the book is written in easy-to-understand language and brings new concept of debt values to the wealth management of individuals and families in conjunction with related businesses knowledge. It is a non-fictional article of business and belongs to informative text.Generally, informative texts in English language contain high volume terms in a certain field, complex long sentences and implicit logic, which will give rise to great challenges for the understanding of the translator and an accurate translation. Therefore, the translating work requires many pre-existing schemas. Moreover,The Value of Debt aims at individuals and families with little financial knowledge,so the translation should be dealt with caution to ensure that the professional knowledge is correctly expressed and the language easily understood,so that target language readers can resonant with readers in the original language when reading the translated version. Therefore, the translating strategy adopted in this translation practice is to make full use of the preexisting schema and place domesticating method as the first policy. The strategy is based on the schema theory by Rumelhart, who divided the schema into three types, namely, the linguistic schema, the content schema, and the formal schema, each of which has its own function and aims at solving different problems.Schema can strengthen the relationship between two languages in translator's brain, such a role can be played more obviously in the informative texts containing many terms in a certain field, complex long sentences and implicit logic.During the translation work, the three kinds of schema have a clear division of labor and each performs its own function.Specifically, the linguistic schema is used for solving the translation of idiomatic words or phrases;the content schema can help translators accurately translate the words and phrases related to professional background knowledge, while the formal schema aims at solving the differences and word order of sentences between two languages, which can make the translated sentences meet the standards and expression habits of the target language. The paper, combining Rumelhart's schema theory with informative text, tries to study the translation of informative texts from a new perspective,to strengthen emphasis on the translation of informative texts and then improve the overall quality of the translation of informative texts.
