Quality education is the key point mentioned in the national education policy reform.Music education belongs to quality education,and it is an important way to cultivate people's image-thinking ability,intelligence and sense of beauty.Piano teaching is a part of music education.And piano playing attracts an increasing number of learners as it is beneficial to the comprehensive development of human brain.Located in the north of China,the city of Ulanqab has a profound cultural heritage.Since the beginning of the last century,the area has experienced more than 100 years of development.Professional piano teaching has grown out of nothing,and has gone through the process from the basic stage to the developing stage and then to the upgrading stage.The research on this process is undoubtedly of great significance for the future professional piano teaching system construction and training of piano professionals,and also for promoting the overall piano teaching level in this area.By consulting data,field investigation,telephone interview,visiting senior teachers and other research methods,the author has studied the current development of professional piano teaching in Ulanqab and has completed the paper with personal practice and experience in piano learning and teaching for more than twenty years in this area.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is introduction,which introduces the origin and significance of the research as well as research methods and objects.The second part introduces the germination of professional piano teaching in Ulanqab,including the profile of Ulanqab,professional piano teaching,the basis of time division of the research,and the germination of professional piano teaching in Ulanqab,etc.In the third part,the professional piano teaching of Ulanqab from 1977 to 2017 is divided into three stages as the basic stage,developing stage and upgrading stage,and the development status of each stage is introduced in turn.In the fourth part,based on the investigation of origin and development of professional piano teaching in Ulanqab,the author presents a series of problem analysis including teaching situation,degree of social concern,and performing of related activities,and then gives countermeasures according to the existing problems as follows: First,to improve the teaching situation,it is necessary to improve the situation of teachers and teaching methods,increase the use of teaching materials,optimize the curriculum,and attach importance to the teaching management and appraisal mechanism,etc.Second,to increase social concern,further attention and support from relevant government departments for professional piano teaching is needed.Meanwhile,we need more attention from the public and parents.Third is to carry out relevant social and cultural activities frequently,as well as professional piano competitions and other activities among teachers and students.The fifth part is conclusion.It includes a brief summary of the paper and expectations for the study of professional piano teaching in the future.
