Empathy is an important concept in Positive Psychology, and it is also the basis for establishing good interpersonal relationships.Empathy mainly involves perceiving other's emotional experience and responding appropriately. The measurement of empathy is the basis of empathy research. However,Existing scales have advantages and disadvantages when measuring empathy.Based on this, foreign researcher R.Nathan Spreng(2009)refers to Spearman's method of extracting “g factors” when studying intelligence, extracting a single underlying factor from a variety of empathy tools to create a useful tool for empathy research-Toronto Empathy Questionnaire(TEQ).the TEQ demonstrated good reliability and validity, which has been introduced into many countries as a valid instrument for the assessment of empathy. It has not been introduced into China for empathy measurement. Therefore, this study took college students as research subjects and revised the TEQ,and further explored the college students' s general characteristics of empathy, and then analyzed the intrinsic mechanism of interaction with related variables. This study mainly consists of two sub-studies.Study I revision of Toronto empathy questionnaire(TEQ).Literature review method was used to study the relevant literature.TEQ was translated into Chinese according to the standardization procedure,it fulfilled the test of the popularity of the test, forming a preliminary test questionnaire. The initial questionnaire distributed in Guizhou university town,560 college students completed the questionnaire.By item analysis and exploratory factor analysis, there formed retest the questionnaire consisted of 9 items.366 college students completed the retest questionnaire and performed the same analysis,a 9 items TEQ formal questionnaire was formed. The empathy questionnaire distributed in Guizhou and Sichuan.924 college students completed the questionnaire to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. To examine the promotion of the revised TEQ,the Rasch model was used to further examine its reliability and validity.Study II The preliminary application of the Toronto Empathy Questionnaire(TEQ).452 participants took part in the investigation. There were came to the descriptive analysis and difference analysis of demographic variables of the data. Then, examined the mediating effect of moral disengagement in the relationship between empathy and altruistic behavior. Finally, examined the mediating effect of moral identity in the mediating process of empathy?moral disengagement?altruistic behavior. This research mainly adopts SPSS 20.0,AMOS 20.0,Mplus7.0 and Winsteps3.74 to carry out the data analysis, exploratory factor analysis, parallel analysis, confirmatory factor analysis,Rasch analysis, correlation analysis, independent sample T test, variance analysis, trend analysis,Mediation effect analysis, moderated mediation effect analysis. The results of this research are as follow:(1)The revised Toronto Sympathy Questionnaire(TEQ)in the Chinese college student population removed 7 items, the remaining 9 items, and also obtained the unidimensional structure of the original questionnaire.(2)The revised Chinese version of TEQ with good reliability, validity and generalizability. The revised TEQ can be used as an effective measurement tool to measure the level of college students' empathy.(3)The level of empathy of college students is higher.Girl's empathy level is higher than boys;sophomores score higher on empathy than freshmen and juniors, and freshman students are higher than juniors;there was no significant difference in empathy among the college students from different places.(4)moral disengagement played partial mediating effect between empathy and altruistic behavior.(5)moral identity played moderating effect in the mediating process of empathy?moral disengagement?altruistic behavior.
