A Practice Report On Whispered Interpreting For An Academic Lecture

This report is based on analyses of whispered interpreting for an academic lecture.On July 3^rdof 2017,Professor Xu Wenying who is from American Jacksonville University,came to the Foreign Languages College of Hebei University and delivered a lecture:The Biggest Challenge Facing American Higher Education—Gainful Employment for Graduates.My supervisor arranged me to do whispered interpreting for Miss Duan,who is a full-time counselor in our college.Based on this practice,I analyzed a number of cases and summed up some experience.The practice report consists of five parts:task description,process description,preparations before interpreting,case analysis and conclusion.Chapter 1 and chapter 2 are about the source and the process of the interpreting task.In chapter 3,I introduce the relevant preparation work,such as collecting background information,studying the interpreting strategies and making a glossary of terms.Chapter 4 is the main body of this report.In this chapter,according to the record,I analyzed quite a number of cases and summarized difficulties in this interpreting practice and proposed relevant solutions.In the last chapter,I summed up this practice from the perspective of the client's feedback and myself.Hopefully,this report may provide some help for my future interpretation and whispered interpreting practice and also provide some references for other interpreters.
