The Ten Paradoxical Propositions are a famous topic in Chinese logic thoughts, and it is also an important topic discussed in the pre-Qin logical argumentation. This article attempts to discuss this issue in three parts. In the first part,I will examine the ideological background of Hui shi's Ten Paradoxical Propositions, and will analyze the discussion of the relation between name and reality, which is one of the central topics discussed by the Pre-Qin philosophical schools. In the second part,my paper will concentrate on the Hui Shi's thoughts of logic.I will explain the meaning of Ten Paradoxical Propositions in history.Scholars in the past have given many different interpretations.I will examine these different explanations, and I will criticize some of the explanations and also support reasonable explanations. In the third part, this paper will focus on the causes of the Ten Paradoxical Propositions, and try to give a solution to them.In this section,I will analyze the main views of scholars in the 20 th century, and criticize some incorrect ones.At the same time,I will discuss the latest research in the recent ten years. Some scholars have begun to realize that the Ten Paradoxical Propositions are similar to the antinomies of Immanuel Kant.I think this is the most appropriate way to solve this issue. From this standpoint,my paper analyses the domestic and foreign scholars' understanding of the dialectical contradictions of Kant-Hegel,and the relationship between the Ten Paradoxical Propositions and the Antinomies.I point out that the dilemma is unavoidable when the understanding category describes absolute ideas. When we recognize this point, the dilemma can be resolved.
