In 20 century, Saul Bellow who was one of the three most eminent novelists (the other two were Faulkner,Hemingway) in the USA, had written an important and colorful page in the literature history, Chinese scholars often paid their attention to the theme, writing technique and his cultural identification and neglected the image of the black and his views on the black within his works. The thesis chooses Henderson the Rain King,Mr. Sammler 's Planet and The Dean ' s December as its research text. It analyzes the text into two layers, the environment and the image: with imageologie and cultural research. In character layer, it analyzes two different sorts of black people: the Wise and the Servant in Africa, Paradigm and Criminal in U.S.A, from which the unconsciousness of racist is manifested. In environment layer, it explores the different narrative strategy between the U.S.A and Africa, which reveals his desire for mainstream of the society. It argues that the black and Africa act as the other, and discourse of the other is actually discourse of the self. The paradox in his narrating of the black reflects his utilitarian mentality in a desire to pursue and maintain the mainstream of the society, and his racialism, in which the black is regarded as the other people. The attitudes of Bellow towards other race is a red alert for us as coming into a time when the culture intercommunion is frequent and a world where the dialogue is the basic principle for culture communion and mutual development in culture its goal. Maybe this is practical significance of this thesis.
