The ontology in modern China came because of the stimulating of the modern western philosophy.We must research Xiong Shili firstly if we want to study the Chinese Modern Ontology,and the most important writing is New Doctrine of Consciousness(written in Bai-hua).In this book,by absorbing the thought of Taoism,Confucianismand Buddhism in China and the Life Philosophy and evolutionism introduced into China at that time,Xiong Shili propose his ontological theory creatively,putting the ontology in an absolute altitude.Based on the thought of ceaseless generation,Xiong Shili not only interpret the ceaseless generation in the view of ontology,but also create an endless,creative and harmonious universe by binding the ren,heng-zhuan,conscience and xing through the ceaseless generation.Heng-zhuan focuses on the changing of ontology,and Xing emphasizes that the ontology is the Conscience.While Ren contains the transcendental meaning and ascending meaning,actually taking both Heng-zhuan and Xing into account,which is just a relative distinction.Under the model of the harmony between heaven and human,the development of Conscience is as same as the universe’s.So the real life is the big life that all things and I are one.In a manner of speaking,the life in Xiong Shili’s theory is the one in the ontological level,beyonding the form of body and individual.In the whole,the universe and the human life are the one,without any gap.While Xiong Shili’s ontological theory is in the foundation of Conscience,which result in a introverted entirety.In this ideological system,more is the human’s activity and initiative,neglecting the extrovert practice in the objective world and t only having a world of no universal virtue or real unity of heaven and human being.
