Anxiety,as a nervous emotional state,has different degrees of influence on students' learning.Therefore,the educational researchers and teachers have a common focus on its effect.Learning anxiety is students' common psychological phenomenon in the learning process,which refers to a negative reaction to study.This negative reaction is derived from a kind of inner conflict,such as worrying about learning outcomes.In recent years,lots of scholars have studied students' foreign language learning anxiety from different perspectives,but few of them probe into students' English listening comprehension anxiety on the basis of cognitive psychological theory and information processing theory.The purposes of this study are to explore the complex psychological process of students' English listening comprehension anxiety,to look for the concrete sources of English listening comprehension anxiety,and eventually to find out the relevant solutions.This study used a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods.The qualitative research was conducted through three open questions by means of interview.The quantitative research was conducted in the form of a questionnaire which was designed in accordance with Kim's FLLAS(2000).FLLAS had a high reliability and validity.The research questions mainly include three aspects: the relationship between anxiety and English listening comprehension,the sources of English listening comprehension anxiety based on the cognitive psychological perspective,and the countermeasures about English listening comprehension anxiety.The research subjects are 182 students from a senior high school located in a city.The182 students include 84 males and 98 females.The collected data was analyzed through SPSS18.0.The main analysis methods include descriptive statistics,Pearson's correlation,independent samples t-tests and reliability of the questionnaire.The results of statistical analysis indicate that:(1)the sources of high school students' English listening comprehension anxiety are very complicated,such as poor listening teaching,poor vocabulary,weak ability of short-time memory,weakinformation processing capability,examination syndrome,lack of motivation,low level of English,cultural barrier,uncomfortable listening environment.(2)To some extent anxiety has negative effects on high school students' English listening comprehension achievements.(3)The female's English listening comprehension anxiety is a little higher than the male's.(4)The introverted students are more easily to be anxious about English listening comprehension than the extroverted students.
