With the acceleration of China's reform and opening up,and the continuous improvement of international influence,the publicity material has become increasingly important in social life.As a window for the world to understand China,the translation of publicity material is constantly showing its importance.In particular,the accuracy of these materials is really crucial.Meanwhile,as a practical translation activity,publicity material translation urgently requires a more rational and scientific applied translation theory.Eco-translatology,a Chinese local translation theory,puts translation into the ecological system to explore the different dimensions of translation.Thus,a series of applied theories have been proposed,which has played a very constructive role in translation studies.This thesis takes the English version of Insights into Chinese Culture as a case study example.In light of Eco-translatology theory,the thesis intends to analyze the translational eco-environment that the translator adapts to and summarize the translator's adaptation and selection to fit the eco-environment from linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions,in order to provide the C-E publicity material translation with some applicable and useful translation strategies and methods.It reveals that in the process of publicity material translation,the complex translational eco-environment has a great influence on the translator's adaptive selection.Therefore,the translator should mainly adapt to various aspects,such as: the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the source text and target text;the great differences between English and Chinese;as well as the target readers' acceptability and so on.And then the translator makes adaptive selections from three dimensions by employing various translation methods: transliteration,literal translation,free translation,simplification and addition etc..On the basis of maintaining the ecology of the original language,the translator also take the target readers' reading habits and acceptability intoaccount so as to increase the readability of the target text and achieve the communicative purpose for better cultural exchange.
