In this study,we aim to explore the relationship between media-ideal internalization and body image of boys who come from two secondary vocational schools.By doing so,we wish to provide theoretical and experiential principles to deal with mental health problems which due to boys' false body belief.There were three hundred and three students engaging in our study.Three questionnaires were adopted including the body esteem scale(BES),Socio-cultural Attitudes Towards Appearance Questionnair-3(SATAQ-3)and Embedded Figures Test(EFT).The idealization of the ideal body of the media refers to the recognition of our cognitive concept of the ideal figure that is attractive in our culture,which includes the acceptance of the ideal body and the actions taken to achieve the ideal shape.Body image refers to the cognition formed by the body,which is an evaluative self.The results of our study were as follows:(1)There was significant difference in scores between field dependence and field independence participants and the former had higher scores.(2)The score of medial-ideal internalization could negatively predict that of body image,that is,the higher scores for media-ideal internalization,the lower scores for body image.(3)Cognitive style modulated the effect of media-ideal internalization on the body image regardless of the cognitive styles that participants had.
