| Chinese classics,as the essence of Chinese culture,play an irreplaceable role in the history of Chinese culture.With the rapid development of the cultural policy"Going-out",an increasing number of Chinese classics have been introduced to people all over the world,which not only has made Chinese culture widespread but also has improved the competitiveness of Chinese culture.In this thesis,analysis of translation works and achievements in this area made by foreign sinologists and outstanding translators in China will be given in details.From researches made in the process,we can figure out that most scholars start from translation itself and make use of theories related to it to analyze.There are almost no researches making from semiotic perspective.This thesis,based on Peirce’s semiotic theories and other helpful semiotic theories,tries to solve the following questions:(1)What are the disadvantages of reduplicated words,sounds and artistic conception’s translation in Chinese classics?(2)How to improve the quality of Chinese classics translation by using Legisign,Qualisign and Sinsign?Peirce,as one of the founders of contemporary semiotic study,has great influences on the development of semiotic study.This thesis,depending on Peirce’s semiotic theories,will present from the following aspects:(1)By analyzing translation works of The Book of Songs finished by three great translators,a conclusion of disadvantages in reduplicated words,sounds and artistic conception’s translation will be given.(2)Firstly,based on the theoretical basis—Legisign,researches will be made to explore rules included in reduplicated words’ translation,and then the results will be connected to comparisons made among different translation versions to solve the problems in them;next,making use of Qualisign,analysis of sounds of different things and emotion carried in them will be given to improve the faithfulness of sound’s translation;finally,combining artistic conception’s translation works,breakthroughs are expected to be made in the process to express feelings in various situations according to the application of Sinsign.In short:(1)By the comparisons made among the three versions,problems of over free translation,over pursuit of sentence structure and problems caused by culture differences have been found.(2)Peirce’s semiotic theories do function in improving the quality of reduplicated words,sounds and artistic conception’s translation in Chinese classics.The application of Legisign,Qualisign and Sinsign can exactly improve the accuracy of reduplicated words,expression of sounds and integrity of artistic conception in Chinese classics translation. |
