In the era of globalized ecological crisis, ecology is becoming a hot point in the studies of different branches of science. In the field of literary studies, the American ecological critic William Rueckert considered that the thought of exploring literary ecology or applying ecology concept into reading, teaching or writing of literature can be developed into a kind of eco-poetics.Eco-poetics in the thesis refers to views about relationship between literature and ecology as well as the study of applying ecology theory into literature research. As a metaphysical concept evolved from ecological criticism,eco-poetics absorbs the theory of ecology and literature, such as ecological criticism, ecological aesthetics and ecological philosophy. It mainly explores the ecological connotation in literary works under the guidance of ecological holism. The simple ecological consciousness in ancient China can provided abundant wisdom resources for the development of Chinese classical poetry. As the model of graceful and restrained school of Chinese poetic genres,Li Qingzhao's Ci-poetry stands in a high status in the history of Chinese literature. At present, with the national urge to let Chinese culture to"go out",translation of Chinese classical poetry has attracted much attention.Studies on the translation of Li Qingzhao's Ci-poetry and promoting translation of classical poetry are not only beneficial for Chinese culture to "go out",and also conducive for readers to understand classical culture more deeply. The thesis will adopt the perspective of eco-poetics to explore the ecological connotation of Li Qingzhao's Ci-poetry,analyzing the translations from three aspects including language, image and artistic conception with Xu Yuanchong's and Kenneth Rexroth's versions as the cases. And the eco-poetics connotation of translation study will be discussed as well. The content of the thesis is divided into three parts, including the introduction, the main body and the conclusion. The introduction presents the research background, purpose, methods, and etc.The body part includes four chapters. The first chapter is the literature review which introduces the current situation of eco-poetics researches and English translation researches of Li Qingzhao's Ci-poetry at home and aboard. The second chapter presents the theoretical basis for eco-poetics,explains the connotation of eco-poetics and the content of translation studies from the perspective of eco-poetics.The third chapter discusses the ecological connotation of Li Qingzhao's Ci-poetry.The fourth chapter, the main part of the thesis,is a case study based on eco-poetics,which analyzes the English versions of Xu Yuanchong and Kenneth Rexroth in combination with the translators' poetics. The conclusion points out that eco-poetics views the translation version as an independent life entity, which belongs to the same ecological translation system as the original text. The translator should pay attention to the ecological connotation of the text in the translation process, and tries to interpret and reconstruct ecological connotation of original text in translation. For the translation of Chinese classical poetry, the advantage of eco-poetics lies in the combination of ecology connotation of the source text and ecological thoughts of the translator.Eco-poetics emphasizes that the translator should reproduce the content of the original text in the natural, social and spiritual domains.Under the perspective of eco-poetics,translation activities should combine with the ecological environment to take appropriate translation strategies. It offers a new perspective for the export of Chinese classics.
