With the continuous development of globalization,English,as a universal language,has the wider and wider range of applications and plays an increasingly important role in politics,economy and culture.The 2011 edition of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education emphasizes the development of students' initial comprehensive language skills through the development of language knowledge.The new curriculum emphasizes the importance of linguistic knowledge which includes grammar.However,in the current grammar teaching,there are still many cases where the grammar rules are memorized.Grammar learning has been deviated from the actual life.Many students can memorize words and sentences but cannot use them flexibly,resulting in students not interested in grammar learning or even English learning.Therefore,how to effectively change the existing problems in grammar teaching is a matter we need to solve urgently.The reason why game,an activity with rules,attracts people's participation is inseparable from its virtual and experiential nature,which has very valuable reference significance to teaching.To use games in grammar teaching will surely increase the students,enthusiasm in learning.This paper will base on this and answer following questions:(1)What are the advantages to use games in junior high school English grammar teaching?(2)How to use games in junior high school English grammar teaching?(3)What are the problems to use games in junior high school English grammar teaching?Based on the basic concepts of game and game teaching,combined with constrictive theory and input and output hypothesis in the second language acquisition theory,the author conducts empirical research on the application of games in junior high school English grammar teaching.Through the study,by analyzing the questionnaires before and after the experiment and the grammar test results,the author finds that the game teaching can improve students' interest in grammar learning and the willingness to cooperate and communicate,and can also help students master grammar and thus improve students' academic performance and improve their language skills.At the same time,according to research results,the author summarizes the game teaching strategies of junior high school English grammar teaching.However,game teaching is not suitable for all students.Students with intermediate grades have improved their scores remarkably,and their learning attitudes have changed a lot.For excellent students,there is no obvious effect in improving the academic performance.Therefore,when we use games to teach grammar,we should choose the proper games according to students' language level.
