Study On Entrance Examination Of National Universities During The Period Of The Republic Of China

In modern China,with the constant invasion of the Western powers,drastic changes have taken place in all areas of society.In the field of education,the system of the imperial examination system dominated by traditional feudal education had been developed which seriously impeded the process of modernization.Influenced by the trend of "Eastward Spread of Western Culture",the modern school education emerged in the modern sense.As an important means of selecting talents,traditional entrance examination system also started to evolve into the modern one.The exploration and establishment of modern school entrance examination system laid a solid foundation for the operation of the college entrance examination system during the period of the Republic of China.In particular,the operation and development of the national college entrance examination at that time had a great influence on the selection and training of modern social talents.The article is divided into six parts.The first part mainly introduces the significance,current situation,methods of the research,and great theoretical and practical significance of studying the relevant issues of the national university entrance examination in the Republic of China.The second part mainly illustrates the exploration of modern new school entrance examination,the formation of the modern imperial university entrance examination system and the operation and development of the college or university entrance examination in the early period of the Republic of China.The third part is about how the national university has made great contributions to the development of education in modern China,and gradually matured in the aspects of examination operation system and mechanism in the period of the republic of China.As for examination forms,entrance examination of the national universities has undergone the development of three stages,namely separate examination,unified exam,and diversified exam;and the system was formed under the requirement the social environment.The fourth part shows that,in accordance with three forms of examination,namely separate examination,unified examination,and diversified examination,three types of subject examination,namely free development examination,synchronous development examination,and integrated development examination of liberal arts and sciences were formed,which could meet the requirement of examination of every stage.The fifth part deals with the content of the examination.History subject examination representing history discipline was characterized by being basic,comprehensive,modern,and innovative,which are both the requirement of the historical subject teaching emphasizing the historical materialism,the concept of time and space,the historical explanation,and national appeal,and also the vivid embodiment of the social environment development in this period.In the sixth part,the paper comprehensively analyzes the research on the relevant issues of the national university entrance examination in the Republic of China,and gives an important enlightenment to the reform of college entrance examination in China today.The examination form can be diversified as well standardized;the examination subjects can be comprehensive as well as professional,the examination content can be innovative and foundational;the examination operation can be smooth as well as fair.The college entrance examination system is the basic education system of the country and is related to the development of the country.The national universities in the period of Republic of China represented the highest level of education in modern China,which had far-reaching influence.The successful experience of national university entrance examination is of great significance for the reform of college entrance examination system in China today.Only mature and complete entrance exam operation system can guarantee selection and cultivation of high quality talents,strengthening of the core competitiveness,development of higher education in our country,thus accelerating the pace of changing our country from "a big education county" to "an education power".
