Archaeological Study On The Wei Jin Southern And Northern Dynasties' Metal Belt

During the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties that the era of great transformation and great change in Chinese history,which has been trying to establish new social order in nearly four centuries.As an integral part of the costume,the metal belt was held in the historical flow of the national blend,which produced a series of changes and formed the system of carriage and clothing in this period.As far as the form and pattern are concerned,there are four types,namely the Jin style belt,the Yan style belt,the belt with rings,the belt with Guyan,each one with distinct differences in the use area and age.The evolution stage of the belts' shape and component combination form,which is similar to the main power's period.In the period of the Wei and Jin Dynasties,they continued to develop along the tracks of the Han Dynasty.The dragon and waxbill sculpture were integrated into different nationalities and regions,with a strong brand of the times.In the change of nearly 400 years,to some extent it reflected the difference of social system,ideological standard and artistic standard.Although the war frequently,but the population flow and international relations make various geographical cultural interaction more closely.The northern belts has been absorbed the cultural factors in the southern region and got rid of the shackles of its manufacturing industry,forming a distinctive the belts culture namely Yan style belt.In the period of the Wei and Jin Dynasties,the culture of the southern region was the primary center,Liaoning province and Yanzhao areas were secondary centers,and both had produced cultural radiation on the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese islands.The Korean Peninsula mainly follow the cultural factors in Northern China with Yan style belt,its recreation is weak.Japan has unearthed many belts that belongs to Tumulus period,which are compatible with the cultural factors of Jin style belt and Yan style belt,and show strong cultural regeneration ability.In this period,the function of the belt has been far from the practical limitations.In a sense,it acts as a tool for cultural communication or a symbol of reflecting that the cultural exchanges in many regions.Belts'accessories in this period are mostly sac,arrows and sword,the warrior ethos remarkable.Belts gradually replaced the belt hook in the Northern and Southern Dynasties,social change and dress habits were closely related.Moreover,it has risen from the practical level to the height of the system of etiquette.The material and the quantity of the accessories have established a positive relationship with the official rank,also become the origin of the hierarchy of the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
