A Study On Nanxi Research Of English World

Nanxi is the earliest from of Chinese traditional drama.The scholars from English world also pay attention to this special from of drama.On the basis of the collected information,the Nanxi study of English world began from Tadeusz Zbikowiki's treatise Early Nan-hsi Plays of the Southern Sung Period,which published in 1974.And the chapters of William Dolby's treaties A History of Chinese Drama(1976),Jean Mulligan's doctoral dissertation The P'i-p'a chi and its role in the development of the ch'uan-ch'i genre(1976)and her translation The Lute: Kao Ming's P'i-p'a chi(1980),and Sun Mei's doctoral dissertation Nanxi : the ealiest form of xiqu(traditional Chinese theatre(1995),Regina Sofia Llamas' s doctoral dissertation Comic Roles and Performance in the Play Zhang Xie Zhuang Yuan with a Complete Translation(1998),and Regina Sofia Llamas' s essay Retribution,Revenge,and the Ungrateful Scholar in Early Chinese Southern Drama(2007),Stephen H.West's essay Shifting Spaces: Local Dialect in A Playboy from a Noble House Opts for the Wrong Career(2008)all attributed the change of historical Nanxi Study to the specific Nanxi work study.Among this process,by using different angle,method and theory,the scholars of English world achieved much.By the translation of the important achievement of the Nanxi study of English world,this thesis aims at analyzing them through the reference of the studies of Chinese scholars and other western scholars from the four aspects as bellowed.First,on the Nanxi origin research achievement of English world scholars.Second,on the study of Nanxi organization of English world scholars,included the study of text organization and the role(jiaose)system study.Third,on the spread and accept study of Nanxi by English world scholars,within the study of the development,writer,audience,and performance of Nanxi.Forth,on the studies of Nanxi works,especially the translations and studies of the lute(pipa ji)and the Zhang Xie Zhuang Yuan.
