Lu Shiyi was only a student in the late Ming Dynasty without illustrious family,and he was just a student in imperial examination.There was still a very long way for him to get into the upper echelons of power,it was bound to take a great deal of time,money,and energy to take part in the imperial examinations.What's more,the family,wealth and status also determine his social status.After the demise of the Ming Dynasty,Lu Shiyi didn't want to be an official any more.In the early Qing Dynasty,with the publication and dissemination of works,as well as his enthusiasm to give lectures in and out the local area,Lu Shiyi was praised as "Jiangnan Scholar" and "the present River Fen" by people at that time.In the late Qing Dynasty,the first year of Guang Xu(1875),Lu Shiyi was allowed to place his memorial tablet in the Confucius temple after he died,which made him become a national model from a local figure.The three times of late Ming,early Qing and late Qing were closely related to the change of Lu Shiyi's identity.Although he died long ago in the late Qing Dynasty,student,scholar,the sage of Confucius were three labels on Lu Shiyi' body and showed a gradual upward trend.The purpose of this paper is to sort out and expound the course of Lu Shiyi's "from Man to Sainty",and to explore the historical factors and cultural connotations behind this process.In the late Ming Dynasty,the court was in disorder and there were always party-struggles;The peasant uprisings were very numerous;On the other hand,it is facing the situation of the rise of the later Jin Dynasty.Lu Shiyi,who lived in this era,considering it was hard to be an offical,turned his eyes to himself and places and devoted himself to self-cultivation and social relief.When the dynasty changed from Ming to Qing,Lu Shiyi survived as an adherent of the Ming Dynasty,living in seclusion.In order to carry on knowledge,he set up his ambition to write books and benefit the future generations.He also gave lectures in and out the local area.Lu Shiyi assisted in low-level officials and local officials to make a living and serve the people.In fact,Lu Shiyi was glorified after the death.In the early Qing Dynasty,he was worshipped by local officials to the township shrine,accompanied by the academy,and his works were arranged and published by officials.During the Qianlong period,the Records of Speculation was put into the Si Ku Quan Shu and was confirmed by the Qing government,Lu Shiyi's status as a local idol was constantly established and elevated.In the late Qing Dynasty.Taicang state local official published Lu Shiyi 's woks,established a college in his former residence,which further consolidated the status of his local idol.When the time was ripe,Taicang local gentry,official asked the Qing government to place Lu Shiyi'memorial tablet in the Confucius temple and finally achieved success.Under the joint efforts of the state and the local,Lu Shiyi became a national model,known as Neo-Confucianism and Scholars.
