Teaching reflection is the rethinking of teaching practice.It is an effective way to improve teachers' professional accomplishment and promote teachers' professional development.Teachers can find strong points and weak points of the teaching practice through reflection to promote teaching effect.At present,with the implementation of the new round of curriculum reform,the society has put forward higher requirements for teachers and the role of teachers has changed accordingly.Teachers' teaching reflection has become one of the key factors for teachers to respond to the new curriculum reform and enhance their professional ability.In recent years,teaching reflection has aroused more and more attention from educational experts and scholars.There have been quite a few researches in the field of teaching reflection in our country,but most of them focus on English teachers in senior high schools and universities,and there are relatively few researches on teaching reflection of the first-line English teachers in junior high schools.To bridge the gap,the purpose of this thesis is to investigate the teaching reflection of the first-line English teachers in junior high schools.This thesis mainly answers the following two research questions: 1.What is the present situation of teaching reflection of English teachers in junior high schools? 2.What are the factors that influence English teachers' teaching reflection in junior high schools? The subjects of present study are made up of 56 English teachers from four different middle schools,which include Zhengzhou No.2 middle school,Zhengzhou No.16 middle school,Zhengzhou No.47 middle school and Zhengzhou No.52 middle school.Based on questionnaire and interview with teachers,the data are collected and analyzed.And the conclusions are presented as follows:(1)Most teachers have a good understanding of teaching reflection,and they are aware of the necessity and importance of teaching reflection.But some teachers lack actions after teaching reflection.The content of English teachers' teaching reflection in junior high schools focuses on students' scores,examination points,teaching contents,teaching strategies,classroom organization and management.The way of English teachers' teaching reflection in junior high schools mainly relies on discussing with colleagues and their own teaching experience.(2)The factors that influence English teachers' teaching reflection in junior high schools involve many aspects.The direct driving forces to promote teachers' teaching reflection come from classroom management,students' feedback information and examination results.The main factors that influence teachers' teaching reflection can be summed up in two aspects: On the one hand,teachers do not have enough time and energy to reflect on teaching because of excessive teaching burden.On the other hand,teachers lack theoretical knowledge and relevant training of teaching reflection.Based on the analysis and discussion of the results,some corresponding suggestions are put forward to provide a reference for the development of English teachers' teaching reflection in junior high schools.
