The New Changes Of The Poetry Between Xie Tiao And The Qi Liang Dynasty

Under the guidance of the concept of "new changes",the poetry of Qi and Liang dynasties was created innovatively.As a completely self-conscious period of Chinese literature,Qi and Liang dynasties produced two major styles: the Yongming Style and the Court Style.As an outstanding poet in the Southern Qi Dynasty(479-502),one of Southern Dynasties,Xie whose poetry carries on the features of elegance and grace in Song Danysty,one of the Southern Dynasties,and has an important effect on the feature of Court Style and promotes the new transformation of the poetry of Qi Liang.This paper focuses on the new variable features of Xie's poetry and reveals the transformation process of Qi Liang's poems from the ancient style to the modern one by the new study on the poetry of Xie and Qi Liang.The paper consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction tells the origin of selecting the topic,the research situation in ancient and modern times,the significance and the research approach.By analyzing the ancient and modern research situation of the poetry of Xie and Qi Liang,it is helpful to get hold of the current research situation and get the point of the research direction.The text is divided into three chapters:The first chapter highlights Xie's exploration of the content of poetry.Xie has made innovational reform to the poetry especially Yuefu poetry(1),Yongwu poetry(2)and landscape poetry.Since the creation of another kind of poetry,the imitation of Yuefu poetry in the Kingdom of Wei,Yuefu poetry has begun to break away from the restriction of music melody and develops towards the direction of pure literature.Later,Xie tiao made a lot of changes to promote the elegance of Yuefu poetry.He changes the traditional themes of Yuefu poetry and creates other themes.The practice of "assignment" and "Yongming style" in Yuefu poetry promotes the transformation of yuefu poetry from ancient poetry to modern poetry.The poem,"The Pomegranate before the Court" written by Cai Yong who was a writer of the Eastern Han Dynasty marks the creation of Yongwu poetry in China.After that,under the guidance of the concept of depicting things,Eight Scholars of the Jingling School often write poems chanting things,as prompts the development of Yongwu poetry.Among those poems chanting things,Xie's poems are free from the mere "likeness" of the objects,and elaborately depict the imagery and convey emotions.Xie expresses his dreams and goals in his poems through describing concrete objects.However,landscape poetry has been infected with the feature of metaphysics since the bloom of metaphysical poetry in the Eastern Jin Dynasty(317-420).Xie lingyun(3)is a pioneer in trying to create poems without the feature of metaphysics,but metaphysical features can still be found in his poems.For example,the emotion doesn't accord to the scenery.Great minds think alike.Xie Tiao also makes an effect on the landscape poetry that emotions are combined with sceneries.He also combines landscape and emotion closely in his poetry to complete the "resonance" of the scene.The poets choose the image of their poems in an emotional light,so that readers could image the picture when they read those poems.In this way,Xie's exploration and innovation on the subjects of landscape poetry has promoted to the presence of modern poetry and the development of landscape poetry.The second chapter discusses the new changes of Xie's techniques applied in his poetry.Xie lingyun's writing just describes the objects without any personal feelings,while Xie's poetry is a fusion of feelings with a natural setting.The themes of Xie poetry have gone through the changes from passions of entering the official government to longing for life in countryside.In his poetry,Xie takes advantage of dialogues and applies the lyric device,such as expressing his feelings by describing the scene.Compared with too many over flowery poems in the Southern Dynasties,Xie's poems are fresh and natural.Influenced by Taoism,his family instructions,and Tao Yuanming,Xie is used to selecting the images of refreshing breeze,seasons,flowing water and music and describing these peaceful and natural images in his poems in order to create an elegant and beautiful poetic imagenary.What is noteworthy is that the argument that Xie's poems are natural but not meaningful is the binary paradox of literary function theory and aesthetic theory.By using different angles of view to depict images,especially mountains and flowing water,Xie makes his poetry gorgeous because of space beauty.At the same time,Xie expresses his nostalgia by focusing on the aesthetic time and the color flow of light and shadow in his poems depicting the sunset.The change of his lyric devices shows his superb poetic skills.The third chapter investigates Xie's leading role in changing the style of poetry of Qi Liang.Chinese literature develops generation by generation.The practice of Yongming style and the plain and natural style of his landscape poetry in the later period promote the "new variation" of literature in that time.Xie's poetry breaks away from the tradition that poets are fond of making literary quotations and historical allusions in their poetry.He advocates using basic words,especially fresh and natural verbs and adjectives,and adopting easy rhythm.The innovation of the rhythm,the sentence pattern,and the structure of poetry promotes the finalization of the Yongming style.During the regime of Yongming,xie is the leader of four literary groups,among which,the Eight Scholars of the Jingling School is the center.During that time,the literature is in bloom.At the same time,the Yongming style has been spread rapidly and effectively.The formation of depicting skills and the popular style of Court poetry is influenced by Xie's Yuefu poetry and Yongwu poetry.Xie tiao is actively engaged in the relationship with poor scholors and then focuses on the female spiritual world.Therefore,his poetry presents the change from elegance to popular.Meanwhile,his poems chatting object begins to depict women's appearance elaborately,realizing the transition from chatting object to chatting humans.His change inspires other poets to write Court poems from the perspective of women.The creation of Xie's poetry leads to a new style of the poetry of Qi Liang.
