A Research On The Recurrent Frame Construction Of Correlative Adverb In Modern Chinese

This paper does a systematical research on the recurrent frame construction which consists of correlative adverb.It regards the construction as a system and there are many commonalities and differences in it.The paper is divided into seven parts,including the foreword,summary,four chapters and conclusion.The functions of each part are as follows.In foreword,it briefly introduces the origin of the selected topic,the range of the research,the purpose of the research,methods of the research and selected corpus.The second chapter is the literature review.Firstly,it summaries the names of the frame construction,then reviews the research of the frame constructions.The third chapter discusses the commonalities and the differences of composition.Conclusion shows that there are many commonalities in "you(又)A you(又)B","bu(不)A bu(不)B" and "ban(半)A ban(半)B".On the on hand,the construction tends to choose A and B of same nature,whose meaning is related.On the other hand,it has a common grammatical role and follow the common order.The fourth chapter discusses the commonalities and differences of the syntax function.In general,its function is the same as predicate structure.It often acts as a clause in complex sentences and acts as predicate,complement and attribute in a single sentence."bu A bu B" has the most syntactical function,"you A you B" is the least.The fifth chapter is the key part.It discusses the commonalities and the differences in semantics.This three constructions show quantity,subjectivity and rhetorical.They have different perspectives.And there are a lot of differences in semantic richness and semantic level.The sixth chapter is the key part,too.This part explores the process of grammaticalization which based on the differences of semantics.And the conclusion shows that it is unbalanced in the frame construction.In fact,it has a relation with "you","bu" and "ban"."you" is the typical correlative adverb,but "you A you B" has a lower degree of grammaticalization.On the contrary,"bu" and "ban" are not the typical correlative adverbs,but they have a high degree of grammaticalization.In addition,in the process of constructions’ grammaticalization,"bu" and "ban" get the function of correlative adverb.The seventh chapter summarizes the paper and pionts out some deficiencies.
