Emotions play an important role in the communication of daily life.Emotions as the external manifestations of emotions are more used as stimuli in behavioral studies of emotions.Ekman(1979)considers angry, disgusted, happy, sad(or disturbed),fear and surprise is beyond culture and region.Among the emotional faces, happy is the only positive emotion, and with the development of positive psychology and cognitive psychology, the face of smile is getting more attention.Facial mimicry refers to the imitation of the facial expression intentionally or unintentionally by the facial muscles after the observer has seen the expression of the observed person. One method for controlling facial mimicry in behavioral research is biting a pencil used by Strack et al.(1988),the subjects use a fixed posture biting the pencil so that the facial muscles are under control to inhibit the free imitation of certain emotions. Most of the facial mimicry studies about smile faces are concentrated abroad, and the research content needs to be further elaborated, therefore, there are still some problems: most of which are studies on the differences between smiles and other emotional faces(eg.anger or sad),but few studied within the smiles(eg.high or low degree of happy); There are theories that the eyes also play an important role in facial mimicry, but this kind of effect is seldom explored;Whether there are differences in facial mimicry of the alien smile faces and so on.This study conducted an 3 experiments on these issues:Study 1 using a high and low degree of happy smile face, and facial muscles are free to imitation or inhibition, the score and RT were examined and the result shows that the score in the upper facial free imitation group and facial suppression group does not exist, there was a significant difference between the two groups in the response to high-happy smile scores. The responses in the facial suppression group were significantly longer than those in the free-imitation group, but not in the low-happy smile rating reaction difference.Suggesting that facial mimicry will be more involved in the processing of high-happily than the processing of low-happysmiling faces.Study 2 using the different eye contact regions(eye and mouth)and the different facial muscles control styles(free and blocked)as the independent variants, and the valence of the smile faces as the dependent variant, there was no significant difference found in scores between the two groups, but a significant difference was observed in response time, the facial muscle suppression group respond longer than the free mimic group, indicating that the facial mimicry did not participate significantly more in the eye area than mouth.Study 3 examines the face mimicry of the native and alien smile faces, and records the scores and their responses at the same time, there was no significant difference in the scores between the two groups, and the differences between the two groups in the response are only reached the significant edge,a significant differences in the response to the national dimension, indicating the own race effect in smile face.In addition,in the first and third studies, each picture was presented twice.Analysis of the two reaction times showed that the second reaction was generally longer than the first time.Analysis of the two reaction time differences found that there was a significant facial muscle control effect, facial muscle suppression group, that the reaction time difference was significantly longer than the facial free imitation group, part of the subjects were interviewed showed that the subjects in the second time in the memory of the first time the score, such a result it may indicate that the imitation of the facial muscles may involve the memory processing of the faces of the smile, but the assumption needs to be examined and validated.
