This project involves the translation of The Days of My Life(Chapter Six)which is written by famous British novelist Henry Rider Haggard and the report is based on it.The Days of My Life is an autobiography in which the writer records his life experiences,and shares the stories of his families,friends and social environment.The translation material is an autobiography,which belongs to expressive text according to Newmark who divides the context into three types.In the book,the life experiences of the writer were narrated through letters,dialogues,and narrations.The plots in the book are easy and clear and the characteristics are vivid.The three rules of skopos theory by Vermeer are applied in the project.It is under the guidance of the three rules of skopos theory that translation has been improved and the difficulties in translation have been solved.The significance of translating The Days of My Life lies in that from the translation,personal translation skills can be improved and more translation theories and cultural knowledge have been obtained through reading of relevant books and the translation practice.Secondly,hopefully,the writer of the book and his other works would attract more and more scholars' attention through this project.Besides,the literary merits and the translation of autobiography would attract people's attention and benefit the society.Last but not least,this project may provide materials and contribute to those who are doing relevant researches.
