At the end of the 19th century,the interests of the United States in China were impacted by the partition of the "sphere of influence" of the European powers and Japan.After weighing the interests of all parties at home,the American government formally put forward the policy of "Open Door" to China in 1899.However,it was not until 1902 that "Open Door" still remained in diplomatic rhetoric or commercial trade,and then extended to industrial investment.The right of railway investment is an important means to external expanding in the era of monopoly capitalism.From the view of the participants,the US railway investment in China has experienced the process from private enterprise domination to the government assistance and then government domination.From a regional perspective,the US railway investment mainly concentrated in northeast China and the Yangtze River Basin.Under the influence of American policy to China in different periods and the power comparison among the great powers,American railway investment has obtained different results.
