The Relationship Between Online News Headlines And Readers' Emotional Tendencies

In the era of reading,the role of online news headlines has been further intensified.News with the same content but with different titles creates different attitudes among the readers toward the main characters and events in the news.Paying attention to the relationship between the online news headlines and readers' emotional tendencies,and exploring the linguistic laws behind them,is of great significance for the correct use of news to guide public opinion.In this paper,Netease news is used as the research object.Through collation of the corpus,a total of 90 different online news headlines were selected:30 with readers with different emotional orientations,30 with readers with emotional tendencies that are generally similar but different in degree,and 30 with readers with identical emotional tendencies.Statistics and text analysis are used to study the relationship between the online news headlines and the readers' emotional tendencies.The difference between the editors' handling of news events and the evaluation of news facts is the main reason that leads to the different emotional tendencies of the readers.The former includes the the editors' choice of different news elements,the different ways of summarizing the information,and the different degrees of detail in the title information.The latter can be divided into the use of different judgemental terms,different sentence patterns and different tone.Differences in the size,accuracy,and emotional intensity of online news headlines can all lead to differences in readers' emotional tendencies.Quotations and subtitles can supplement the title information.Explaining keywords in the title can also increase the amount of information.The greater the accuracy of the verbs and nouns in the title,the more likely the reader is to correctly understand the content of the news.Reasonable use of rhetorical devices and commentary will help to highlight editorial attitudes and better stimulate the readers' emotional resonance.For online headlines whose readers have the same emotional tendencies,the discussion is mainly in terms of the representational techniques.The combination of the actual situation and virtual reality,personal narrations and the perspectives of others,all have their own advantages.As long as they are properly used,they can help the headline express the emotion well.
