In the past, many Chinese linguists have conducted extensive research on scope adverbs, but the combining of scope adverbs has been ignored by many linguists. The combining of scope adverbs is not only a pragmatic phenomenon, but also subject to certain grammatical rules, which reflects a certain degree of regularity. In this study,we chose 47 common scope adverbs as objects.Based on the previous research,we divided the scope adverbs into four categories by combining with semantics and syntax.Within each four categories of scope adverbs, first we described the situation of combining the same category of scope adverbs on the basis of statistical data. Then,by analyzing the semantic functions, semantic jurisdiction and semantic orientation of each subcategory,we explain the formation of adverbs which are in the same category. At the same time,we explored the reasons for combining scope adverbs of same category by figuring out how they changed on syntax.Between the four categories of adverbs, referring to the previous research on the use of adverbs,we summarized three principles that restrict the use of adverbs of different scopes and analyzed how these three principles affect the use of adverbs of different scopes in modern Chinese,Eventually,we extract some dominant of combining scope adverbs. After this,we analyzed some present teaching program of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and textbooks. But we find that the whole field of Chinese teaching has ignored the combining of scope adverbs.Through the analysis of teaching program, mainstream textbooks, and second-party language learner biases, combined with Chinese studies,we have summarized the difficulties and difficulty of second language learners in the acquisition of scope adverbs.we also put forward some proposals on teaching and expected these advice can provide useful help for the further development of Chinese teaching.
