The Research Of Taoist Ritual Music In Shanghai Dongyue Temple

This thesis is based on the author's own observation and record of the death ritual in Shanghai Pudong Dongyue Temple,mainly describes and analyses the ritual and its music phenomenon.This paper not only relates to the special understanding of the special level of faith,but also relates to Chinese traditional music and local culture.Therefore,this paper will be carried out with the help of the theories and methods of related disciplines,such as religion and sociology and so on.The main part of the thesis consists of the introduction,the four chapters and the conclusion.The first chapter is an overview of the history and current situation of Taoism in Shanghai and Dongyue Temple.The second chapter describes and analyses the environment,the process and the procedure the death ritual in Shanghai Pudong Dongyue Temple.The third chapter analyzes the state and appearance of music,and outlines the characteristics of the ritual music.The fourth chapter combines the ritual culture and social relations and analyses the social position of Dongyue temple,then study the religious behavior and the recognition and acceptance of the Taoist culture on the influence of local cultural environment,discuss the social attributes of the Taoist culture.
