Many college English teachers notice in their teaching practice that student's motivation of English learning often undergoes a process of falling from the climax to the trough. This phenomenon is also verified theoretically and empirically by scholars from both China and abroad. In general, researches on learning motivation are deepening and remarkable achievements in this field have been made over the past few decades. But most studies focus on the positive side of motivation and studies on the negative side are far from enough. In this study,351 non-English sophomores from a college in the north of Fujian Province are chosen as the subjects and a questionnaire is employed to investigate the demotivators and demotivating extent among them.SPSS 22.0 is used to analyze the data and 6 students who declare that they have demotivation are chosen randomly to have an interview, together with 3teachers concerned. Results are shown as follows: 1)The descriptive analysis show 61.8% of the subjects217)claim that they have been undergoing demotivating on English learning;2)Four categories of factors are extracted through exploratory factor analysis(EFA)by SPSS22.0,namely curriculum provision,student-related factors(Learning difficulties, lack of interest, personality traits),teacher-related factors(teacher-students relationship, teaching method). The results of the interview verified the data analysis.Based on the above research findings, the author puts forward the following suggestions:1)Guaranteeing the teaching hours and ensuring that curriculum provision corresponds to students' real expectation of English learning;2)Fostering students' learning strategies and stimulating their interests on English learning;3)Actively engaging in the study of teaching pedagogy and fostering harmonious teacher-student relationship;4)Making full use of teaching facilities and develop text-books that cater for students' needs.
