Research On The Symbolic Analysis And Design Of The Patterns Of The Silankapu Snake

The Tujia language “Silankapu” is an ancient and rare Tujia brocade.It has accumulated the history and culture of the Tujia for thousands of years.It is an epic poem of the Tujia people and is hailed as a wonderful work of the Tujia folk crafts.The Tujia Weaving Women flew up to pick up the weft,and colorful brocade created the Tujia people's cultural spirit and artistic space with unique artistic symbols.Among them,the Silankapu Snake pattern has a vivid depiction of nature,but also the worship of the national totem reflects that the natural beauty,the dynamic beauty,and the harmonious beauty contained in it are still worthy of our detailed understanding and in-depth study.The paper aims to investigate the cultural origin of the Snake pattern from the aspect of natural environment,totem worship and diversified ethnic culture on the basis of predecessors' research,field trip and master visiting of brocade in Tujia regions.Next,to launch a study of language structure,semantics and pragmatics from the perspective of semiotics combing the context where the patterns been born,the structure was carried out mainly on the technique,modeling and color;while semantics meaning comes from the analysis of ancestor worship,desire for life,praying for children and good luck;apart from that,traditional context was integrated so as to analyze the pragmatics meaning and the possibility of pragmatic application with the current cultural background.What's more,I also manage to explore the coherence point between traditional symbols and modern designed language with symbolic design and application as a focus based on the language structure,semantics and pragmatics characteristics.Finally,apply theory to practice through deconstructing the redesign method and integrating the symbolization design of the snake pattern into modern life.In practical applications,we try to introduce the new materials and technologies to achieve a innovative application and to bring it to life in realizing a better inheritance and development of traditional Tujia brocade.
