The Analysis Of Joseph Schwantner "Concerto For Percussion"

The main creative activities of contemporary American composer Joseph Schwantner(1943-)began after the 1960 s and 1970 s in 20 th century.Throughout the background of music development at that time,the organization and application of his composing technology was closely related to the world music trend at that time.He is also unique in the use of percussion timbre and orchestration,which has contributed a new breakthrough to the genre of percussion concerto.The guitar,which the composer has loved since his youth,also has a profound influence on the aesthetic orientation of his music creation.This paper will analyze synthetically the composition techniques of “Concerto For Percussion”,such as the application of structure organization,the choice of pitch material,the preference of orchestration technique and the combination of rhythm and beat,etc.,which shows the freedom consciousness in the composer's technique and the personal tendency in the aesthetic under the background of music creation in 20 th century.
