Religious belief is a psychological phenomenon that has been common for a long time.In the past thousands of years, religion has been in the sacred status of the vast majority of people's spiritual kingdoms around the world.Until the day of science wiseness, more than 3/5 of the people in the world still are believers in various religions, and the rest of the non believers have more or less religious ideas and beliefs."Religious prosociality hypothesis"believes that religious belief may promote a series of prosocial attitudes and behavior, and there have been a large number of Western studies that support this theory. In the context of Chinese culture,Buddhist belief is the primary representative of our religious beliefs. The relationship between Buddhist belief and prosocial behavior remains to be explored. This research adopts the method of combining questionnaire and experiment to study progressively.Study 1 used a questionnaire to compare the differences in prosocial behavior between Buddhist believers and non-religious believers. On the basis of the first research,Study 2 will continue to explore the influence of religious belief prime on prosocial behavior of non-religious individuals. Then study 3,on the basis of study 3,we continue to explore the internal psychological mechanism of Buddhist belief on prosocial behavior------the mediating role of compassion. This study draws the following conclusions:(1)The prosocial behavior of Buddhist believers is significantly higher than that of non-Buddhist believers.(2)Compared with neutral word priming, both the priming of Buddhist belief or Christian belief resulted in higher prosocial behaviors.(3)In the priming of Buddhist beliefs, the differences between the three vocabulary categories were significant. The prosocial behavior scores of participants in the Buddhist spiritual prime group were significantly higher than those of the Buddhist agents and institutional prime groups.(4)The prosocial behavior of the Buddhist spiritual prime group was significantly higher than that of the Christian spiritual prime group.(5)Compassion plays a role of full mediation in the relationship between Buddhist beliefs and prosocial behavior.
