The Effect Of Apology Under Different Psychological Distance On Trust Repair

Trust is an important link among people,which has great influence on interpersonal relationships.But in some cases,there will be a violation of trust.At the same time,we need to adopt some ways or strategies to restore trust.Apology is the most common trust repair strategy,but there seems to be a difference in the effect of an apology.Our study,from the observation of life,found that psychological distance may affect the effect of apology on trust repair.So we use the trust game to combine the situation material,and carry on the experimental study to 132 people.To explore the influence of apology on trust repair under different psychological distance,the experiment is designed by single factor subjects,and four experiments are carried out to investigate four dimensions of psychological distance,namely,time distance,space distance,social distance and possibility.The experimental results found that time distance closer,the better effect on trust repair for two;experimental results showed that the spatial distance closer,the better effect on trust repair apology;experiment three found that the social distance closer,the better effect on trust repair for four;experimental results showed that the integrity of the greater the likelihood,the better effect of apology for trust.The psychological distance does affect the effect of the apology on trust repair,and the closer the psychological distance is,the better the effect of the apology to trust repair.Our study can make people understand how different psychological distance affect the effect of apology,guide the art of apologizing in real life,and make apology achieve better results.
