Since the adoption of the reform and opening-up policy,China has made significant achievement in the development of economy.China's march towards industrialization and modernization is at the great cost of the environment.President Xi Jinping, since the 18 th CPC National Congress, has repeatedly stressed that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable. The work in environmental and ecological protection has become a top priority for our country.Due to technical backwardness and lack of experience,China is pressed for foreign experience and skills in environmental preservation, especially from developed countries through communication and exchanges.Contaminated Sites Regulation in British Columbia's Environmental Management Act(hereafter referred to as the Regulation)is a legal document specific to the field of environment that stipulates how to manage contaminated sites,an area where our country still has a lot to learn. The translator intends to make his work a future reference for the translation in related areas and help with China's cause in environmental conservation. This translation report consists of six parts. The first section is an introduction of the project, including project background, features of the source text, significance of the report and key and difficult points of the study. The second part describes the whole process of the translation, including stage of preparations, stage of translation and post-translation work. The third one is about the main method used in translating the source text. The fourth chapter, also the core of the report, gives several examples to show how a certain method was used in generating the target text. The fifth chapter is a conclusion that covers findings, unresolved problems, and significance and suggestions of the report. The wrap-up part lists all the professional terms the translator found in the making of the translation.
