The master class of music,as a new type of teaching mode, has been gaining its popularity domestically in recent years and is well-known to students of various art schools. At the end of the second semester of 2017,Guangxi Art University opened master class of choral conducting and invited Solveig Holmquist,an eminent choral conductor from West Oregon University,to give some instruction to students majoring in music education("3 + 1" Project of Sino-US cooperation in running schools). This course consists of chorus conducting, piano performance and vocalization skills. As the teacher teaches in English while the English proficiency of students varies greatly, class interpreting is an important assistance to ensure the teaching quality. As an interpreter for this master class, the author carried out analysis on the recording during the interpreting process, and she summed up the difficulties encountered in interpreting practice and tried to find out corresponding coping strategies. This report also reflects the issues unsolved during the class interpretation and hopefully it will help the interpreter to make improvements in future interpreting activities and provide some reference and inspiration for other interpreters encountering similar problems. The relative innovative content of this report is that after analyzing interpreting skills during the interpretation process routinely, this report also conducts analysis on the effect of nonverbal communication on class interpreting for the choral conducting. It also concludes the interpreter's multiple-role identity in class interpreting.
